Our Drama program is awards winning and often sweeps the categories at competitions like Fullerton Theater Festival, the Coachella Valley Middle School Monologue Festival, and the Desert Theater League Awards. There is a production offered for auditions in the fall for Upper School students and in the Spring for Middle School and they alternate as Musicals or Dramas. In Lower School, we host the Missoula Children's Theater traveling program each year to offer our K-5 students an opportunity to perform on stage in a formal theatrical production. Last year, our US production of A Few Good Men earned us more nominations than any other local school from the Desert Theater League for excellence. Check it out here!
Our Musical Theater program is well known in the Coachella Valley. A collaborative effort between our Drama and Vocal Music faculty, we encourage students to not only develop their performing talents, but the ability to work in a team, learn responsibility for everything from line memorization to keeping track of props and costumes, and much more! GENERAL and VOCAL MUSIC
Our Music program begins in Lower School where all students have music instruction twice a week and prepare for a variety of public performance opportunities. In Middle School, students can choose to sing in Vocal Music Elective or to audition for the elite Select Choir. Members of our select choir are traveling to New York City this year to perform in the renown Carnegie Hall. All of our students perform at our own school events such as Veteran's Day Assembly and Graduation, as well as around the Valley at a variety of events. Recently, our Select Choir were honored guest performers at the Star Dedication Ceremony in Palm Spring for Palm Valley parents, Dr. Tim Jochen and Tim Erwin, and as the National Anthem singers for the Blue Light Ceremony to honor fallen peace officers in Riverside County.
Our Visual Art program also begins in Lower School with weekly Art instructions and skill building lessons. Students enjoy an hour of dedicated Art instruction each week where they can explore color, shape, and line with authentic art techniques to develop creativity. In Middle and Upper School, students can choose to continue to take Art and we offer a variety of advanced courses to further their passion for Art ranging from Art Elective to AP Art History and AP 2-D Studio Art in both Drawing and Photography. Take a look at some of the amazing student work from our Art Classes in the US Photography Blog or in Mrs. McGrew's Art Blog.
