Dear Upper School Families,
The first week was quite a whirlwind! It has been a joy to see to all of our new students welcomed into our Upper School family. For those of you who are new to the Upper School, we have an Advisory program that serves students in all grades. In the 9th and 10th grade, students have a curriculum based on topics of study skills, health, and social-emotional topics. 11th and 12th grade students have a curriculum that is meant to guide them, and their families, through the college admissions process. More importantly, however, the advisory program serves as a link between home and school. A student’s Advisor is their adult advocate on campus. The Advisor is the person that a student, and their family, can go to when there is a struggle in a class, with a teacher, or in any part of their lives. I encourage all families to get to know their student’s Advisor and cultivate this connection that brings additional caring and support to the teacher and student relationship.
Senior Tie Presentation
Join us this Friday, September 7th at the All School Assembly as we present our 12th grade students with their Senior Ties. Presentation will be held in the gym at 8:20 am.
All School Picture Day
School photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 18th. Dress uniforms are required. If you do not have dress uniform wear, you can purchase these items from Norman’s Uniforms online. Student Ambassador Program (5th-12th grades only)
Our Director of Enrollment Management, Ms. Shannon Markel is organizing student ambassadors for the new school year! If your student is interested in becoming an ambassador, please return the application to Ms. Markel by Friday, September 14th. If you did not receive an application, click here to download. This is a great opportunity for your student to learn valuable public speaking and leadership skills and build their college resume!
School Forms Online
We encourage all families to utilize MyBackpack to complete applicable forms required by Palm Valley School. Such forms as "Use of Technology Agreement" or "Driver Forms" can all be completed online - no paper necessary. All parents/guardians should have a MyBackpack WebID and be able to login and see MyDocuments. Forms to complete will be shown as "New.” Once they are completed they will be submitted to Administrative Assistants for approval. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. Gaines at email@example.com.
Hot Lunch & Pizza
Hot lunch and Pizza forms must be returned by Friday, September 7th. Hot lunch will start on Monday, September 10th and Pizza will begin on Friday, September 14th.
