Dear Upper School Families,
Traditions are important to all communities, but especially in a school community. Traditions can connect us, over long periods of time, and across generations. The early weeks of the school year are some of my favorite. This past Friday, we held our Senior Tie presentation at the all-school assembly. In our school community, we ask students to wear ties for a variety of events: game days, school pictures, and formal school field trips. The Senior Tie is a solid red tie, embroidered with the school logo and the senior student’s graduation year. Seniors are the only students in the school community who get to wear this particular solid red tie and are therefore easily identified and distinguished from other students. This is one of many ways we celebrate our seniors and their accomplishments, and encourage younger students to persevere and strive for that special senior tie.
Additionally, you can watch our parking lot for this year’s Senior Parking Spaces. Each senior gets a reserved parking space that they get to paint in their own way. This has been a tradition since the Class of 2008! On Monday, October 1st, you’ll be able to see the fruits of students’ labor in the senior parking area.
