Dear Upper School Families,
The school year has flown by, and we are rapidly heading into winter break. As we approach the end of the semester, a few reminders about changes for Upper School students in our semi-annual routines. As I have mentioned, semester assessments will come at the end of January as usual. However, this year, rather than have all of the assessments in one week and have them in the gym, teachers have been given the latitude to choose what kind of assessment will gauge the cumulative learning of the semester, and will conduct the assessments within the regular classroom schedule. Students will still have a maximum of two assessments per day, and these assessments will still count for 20% of the semester grade. The assessment schedule will be available before students go to winter break.
Additionally, we have added a new academic celebration to our annual calendar. At the end of the first semester, we will have an academic assembly in the gym, where we will honor our student scholars and celebrate academic accomplishments, including honor roll. We will celebrate our honor roll recipients, those who have earned a 3.5 - 3.74 GPA for the semester, and our high honor roll recipients, those who have earned a 3.75 GPA and above. More information will be forthcoming on our new mid-year academic assembly.
Admissions Open House
All families are invited to attend our admissions open house on Monday, December 4, at 6 pm. This open house is for new and returning families, to have an opportunity to meet your future teachers, and see the parts of campus that your student may not have the opportunity to visit during their normal school schedule. We hope you will come and visit with us!
Did you receive your Gala invitation? Your student was sent home with a special invitation, just for you. If you haven’t seen it yet, please ask your student!
