Dear Upper School Families,
It was another successful Scarefest at the Upper School this past Friday. Special recognition to Ms. Clark, Director of Upper School Activities, and her ASB students, for organizing and executing one of the school’s favorite Halloween traditions. Students watched movies, sang karaoke, played board games, and video games, and most without sleeping a wink all night.
Parents often ask me what are great ways to earn service hours, to both fulfill the school requirement, and to contribute to the local or global community. This year, PVS is traveling to Puerto Rico to help Americans rebuild their homes after the serious damage that occurred because of Hurricane Maria. Students have the chance of a lifetime to immerse themselves in the language and culture of Puerto Rico, while serving the American community, and earning service hours towards the Upper School requirement. This trip is now open to ALL Upper School students and we have extended the deadline. The new deadline to apply is now Thursday, November 15th. The trip is scheduled for Saturday, February 16th - Friday, February 22nd. Please email Mrs. Mulé with any questions or concerns. You can register online here. For more information please plan on joining Mrs. Mulé and Mrs. Rice for an informational meeting on Monday, November 12th at 3:30 pm in MS - E7.
Million Deliberate Acts of Kindness
The Riverside County Office of Education started a kindness movement - "Million Deliberate Acts of Kindness" and we'd like to join in on social media. Our students and families participate in many service activities throughout the year and we’d love to share photos using the Riverside County hashtag #KindnessRivCo. If you are a student or parent on a service learning/community field trip, please be sure to take photos while you're there and share them with Courtney Fisher (email@example.com). Or tag your own acts with #KindnessRivCo and #PalmValleySchool.

Upper School Play: The Drowsy Chaperone
Our Upper School Drama Department’s winter production is a parody of American musical comedies of the 1920s. A middle-aged, asocial musical theatre zealot sits in a chair in his small apartment playing the record of his favorite musical, the 1928 hit...The Drowsy Chaperone. The show comes to life onstage with all its crazy-fun characters singing and dancing in 1920’s style. As the story unfolds, the man in the chair wryly comments to the audience on the music, the story, the actors and his own complicated life. Join in on the fun and laughter by purchasing your tickets now at www.pvs.org/tickets.
