Dear Upper School Families,
We are quickly approaching the winter holiday season, which is a busy season full of joy and hecticness. Remember to pause for a moment or two to remember the successes your children and you have shared in their educational journeys. Reminiscence on these shared events. Perhaps it was a favorite teacher, or a favorite project, or a favorite event that holds great meaning for your family. This season is also a season of giving, and there are many opportunities to become involved in helping others in the greater community. One of these activities is coming up on December 25th at the Palm Springs Convention Center from 12-3pm. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for the community, let me know, and I can provide you with some details.
The PVS Parent Association will be hosting the annual Holiday Luncheon for Middle and Upper School students on Thursday, December 19th. We will be serving pasta/meatballs/salad from Giuseppe's.
However, we are asking for donations of drinks and desserts. We also need parents to volunteer to help set up/serve/clean up from 11:30-1:30 pm. Please click on the link to sign up.
Thank you for your support. Together we can make this a great event for our students. Many thanks to our Palm Valley Parent Association for their gracious teacher and staff appreciation luncheon coming up on December 19th. We thank you, and we appreciate what you do for all of the Palm Valley School community. Your continued support of Palm Valley educators who are committed to Palm Valley students every day is thoughtful.

Ugly Sweater Parade
This Palm Valley tradition includes a parade of sweaters and a delicious cup of hot chocolate. Parents are invited, and the celebration begins at 8:30 am in the Gym.
Students are released early on Friday, December 20. There are enjoyable activities for the first past of the day, so students won’t want to miss out.
Each year, the Palm Valley School community contributes to the education of our Firebirds. There is always a 100% participation from members of the Board of Trustees and from PVS staff members showing their Firebird pride. This annual fund is important to our students and families at Palm Valley. Please remember to submit your contribution or gift in kind. Donate easily and securely online! Thank you for your consideration.

This year, our gala will be held at the Westin Mission Hills on the evening of Saturday, February 8th. This "Secret Garden" is shaping up to be a lovely, beautiful event that you will not want to miss! If you attended last year’s Gala, all your registration information should be saved under the email that was used, making ticket purchases or auction bidding easy and quick. We are in the process of securing items for the auction and we need your help! If you have a business or connection that you think might be great for an auction donation to make our event a success - please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, we have sold out tickets for this event for the last couple of years and anticipate this year will be no different! Please log on today and secure your tickets or table today!
This last week the poetry recitation preparation commenced in English classes for the Poetry Recitation Division Finals. This past year, Palm Valley student Jackson Dean placed third at the state competition. The Upper School competition for Palm Valley is scheduled for December 11. The Middle School competition for Palm Valley is scheduled for December 17.
Continue to email your student’s advisor, Ms. Anders (email@example.com), and myself if your student is absent, or going to be absent. Attending school on a regular basis is directly connected to high levels of student achievement. Emergencies, illness, and other events do come up, and we want to be supportive. Letting us know when your student is gone also allows for teachers to be prepared to help them make up for any missed activities.
All parents/guardians should have a MyBackpack WebID and be able to login and see MyDocuments. Forms to complete will be shown as "New.” Once they are completed they will be submitted to Administrative Assistants for approval. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. Kisling at firstname.lastname@example.org The time for semester final exams is right around the corner in January. Please contact your child’s advisors with any questions/concerns about academic performance before these exams.
School Approved Devices
Per Palm Valley School policy, Chromebooks are the only school approved electronic device for student use. All other electronic devices are to remain at home or be put in students’ lockers at the beginning of the school day.
