Dear Upper School Families,
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade. It was an enjoyable afternoon, and Palm Valley represented well. The buddy activity celebrating Diwali in the Lower School this past Monday was a huge success. The designs were very creative, and all the Upper School buddies really enjoy the opportunity to spend quality time with their Lower School buddies.
On a scarier note, Happy Halloween! This time of the year is scary fun and scary busy. The Palm Valley Halloween parade this Thursday, October 31st, is also certain to be top-notch. Remember that the assembly starts at the beginning of the school day in the gymnasium followed by the parade.
Friday is very important for students, as it is the last day of Quarter 1. This is a time for students to show off their hard work and efforts through their academic achievements. If you have any concerns about your child’s academic mark, your child’s advisor is happy to reach out to teachers and work to coordinate a parent-teacher meeting.
The Fall Festival is finally here! Please join us this Saturday, November 2nd from 3-6PM at the Lower School. We have so many fun activities planned as well as a variety of food and beverage options and our annual Bake Sale. Admission is free and tickets for all of the activities and food will be available for purchase at the event (cash or credit card).
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS! Most of the activities require an adult to supervise and take tickets. We have many 1-hour volunteer shifts that we still need to fill. Please consider signing up:
Additionally, if you can donate something to our Bake Sale or provide some of the other items that we need for the festival, we would greatly appreciate your contribution:
Each year, the Palm Valley School community contributes to the education of our Firebirds. There is always a 100% participation from members of the Board of Trustees and from PVS staff members showing their Firebird pride. This annual fund is important to our students and families at Palm Valley. Please remember to submit your contribution or gift in kind, please click on the link.
Palm Springs Pride Parade
The Palm Valley GSA will be inviting the Palm Valley Community to participate in the Palm Springs Pride Parade. If you are an Upper School student, pick up your permission slips from Mr. Griffin or from the Upper School office. K-8 students must be accompanied by parent chaperones. Students will be meeting at Palm Valley at 8am.
Continue to email your student’s advisor, and myself if your student is absent, or going to be absent. Attending school on a regular basis is directly connected to high levels of student achievement. Emergencies, illness, and other events do come up, and we want to be supportive. Letting us know when your student is gone also allows for teachers to be prepared to help them make up for any missed activities.
Cross Country will be competing this Thursday for the final meet of the season. Go Firebirds! Also, basketball practice has started, and the Firebird team will be exciting to watch this season.
The spirit store will not be opening on Thursday or operating the pop-up booth on Friday morning this week. However, there will be a spirit booth set up during the fall fair with new jacket arrivals, t-shirts, hats, and visors, as well as a selection of clearance items.
Palm Valley Gala
This year, our gala will be held at the Westin Mission Hills on the evening of Saturday, February 8th. This "Secret Garden" is shaping up to be a lovely, beautiful event that you will not want to miss! We are in the process of securing items for the auction and we need your help! If you have a business or connection that you think might be great for a donation to make our event a success - please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, we have sold out tickets for this event for the last couple of years and anticipate this year will be no different! Please log on today and secure your ticket or table today!
All parents/guardians should have a MyBackpack WebID and be able to login and see MyDocuments. Forms to complete will be shown as "New.” Once they are completed they will be submitted to Administrative Assistants for approval.
