US Weekly Assemblies
The Upper School weekly assemblies are every Wednesday morning on the front steps of the Upper School from 8:15-8:30am. You are welcome to attend these sessions, and, if you would like to share any particular information, please send an email to Dr. McLachlan at email@example.com
CPK Palm Valley Fundraiser
CPK Palm Desert is teaming up with Palm Valley for a school fundraiser. The fundraiser is all day this Wednesday, January 29th. 20% of your purchase goes to Palm Valley School when you bring in the attached flyer.
Head of School Finalist Open Parent Meeting
This week, the Chair of the Search Committee, Mrs. Cherise Sonderman, has invited parents to meet the fourth and final candidate for our next Head of School. You are an important part of the process! This Friday, January 31st, the first Parent Open Forum will be held in the MPR at 8:35 - 9:45 am and the second will be later that evening from 5:15 - 6:15 pm. You are invited to meet the candidates and give feedback to the Search Committee. I encourage all of our families to attend and participate in these meetings.
Secret Gala Tickets and Auction
The Secret Garden Gala is fast approaching! Special awards, great items for auction, entertainment, and a whimsical garden theme are only a few of the many reasons to attend. Also, even if you’re unable to attend, check out the online fundraising auction with many unique items for our Palm Valley community. Click here to purchase tickets and bid!
Special Awards Assembly: On Friday, February 14th, we will recognize 5th - 12th grade students who achieved Honor Roll and High Honor Roll for the first semester during the regular All-School Assembly at 8:15 in the GYM.
Upcoming ACT Tutorial and Test
On February 5, Revolution Prep will be working with interested sophomore and junior students on a practice ACT. This practice ACT will be followed by a parent session starting at 4 pm. On February 25th, the official ACT will be offered to juniors. The letter with registration information will be coming home very soon. Payment for the mock test session, as well as the official test for juniors, is payable by check, cash, or credit card. Checks can be made out to Palm Valley School. Research shows that one factor in increasing student test scores is completing the exam in a familiar environment.
Continue to email your student’s advisor, Ms. Anders (firstname.lastname@example.org), and myself if your student is absent, or going to be absent. Attending school on a regular basis is directly connected to high levels of student achievement. Emergencies, illness, and other events do come up, and we want to be supportive. Letting us know when your student is gone also allows for teachers to be prepared to help them make up for any missed activities.
All parents/guardians should have a MyBackpack WebID and be able to login and see MyDocuments. Forms to complete will be shown as "New.” Once they are completed they will be submitted to Administrative Assistants for approval. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. Kisling at email@example.com The time for semester final exams is right around the corner in January. Please contact your child’s advisors with any questions/concerns about academic performance before these exams.
School Approved Devices
Per Palm Valley School policy, Chromebooks are the only school approved electronic device for student use. All other electronic devices are to remain at home or be put in students’ lockers at the beginning of the school day.
Community Service Requirements
Students are well on their way with their community service requirements this year. Please remember that graduation requirements at Palm Valley School include 40 hours of community service each year.
