Dear Upper School families,

Student-Led Conferences

You should soon be receiving information from your student’s advisor regarding scheduling your conference for next Friday, March 5th. This format provides an excellent opportunity for your child to showcase their progress and take ownership of their learning. It also allows you to hear about their experience in the classroom. There will be no regular classes that day and all families are encouraged to sign up and meet with their student’s advisor either in person or virtually.
College Acceptances
Leo Milmet: Wheaton College (Massachusetts) and Florida State University; Marianne Capetz: Chapman University; Andrew Hall: Cal Poly Pomona; Hannah Hall: CSU Monterey Bay, San Jose State University, and San Francisco State University.

CSF Spring 2020
Congratulations to our California Scholarship Federation, Palm Valley Chapter, Spring Semester members, and associate members. CSF is a statewide honor society. Students must qualify off of previous semester grades.

California Scholarship Federation Carwash
On Friday, March 5th, our PVS honor students will be washing the outside of cars (only) for a suggested minimum donation of $5. Proceeds will be used to pay for our Sealbearer (those graduating with Honor) tassels, stoles, and pins. Our carwash will be set up in the parking lot adjacent to the Lower-School playground and take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Professional Development Day
On Monday, March 8th, teachers will be engaged and focused on professional development, which allows for the opportunity to better meet our students and school community’s needs.

Scholastic Book Fair, March 9th - 22nd

This year, our Scholastic Book Fair will be completely virtual. When you purchase books from Scholastic, your orders will be sent directly to your home. If you spend $25 or more, shipping will be free! The proceeds directly benefit our PVS teachers. Our school uses the proceeds to build up classroom libraries and purchase supplemental materials. LINK TO BOOKFAIR: PVS Bookfair If you need suggestions, please reach out to the classroom teacher.
Two Ways to Support PVS
Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy-to-use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible; when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. When online shopping for groceries, you can still earn box tops for purchased goods by submitting your emailed receipt from certain retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, dienys@hotmail.com.

Amazon Smile is another program that can help support PVS. When families purchase from Amazon, visiting smile.amazon.com first and indicating PVS as their donation site of choice will bring monies into our school (plus it will now remember PVS for each purchase once you have indicated it the first time), a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school.

We have already reached 50% capacity! Now is the time to purchase your tickets or table to The Firebird Oasis, as attendance is limited.  You're invited to connect with the PVS community at this first-annual event that reinvents the traditional school 'gala'.
