Message from Ms. Clark, 1/9

January is the month to look forward to the year ahead. Here at Palm Valley School, students have many opportunities to put their intentions to practice. All the clubs at our school provide an easy platform for students to take leadership positions, plan events and shape a unique community. Clubs are student-centered! I encourage students to become even more engaged in their clubs this new year.

The month of January in the Upper School revolves around semester exams. It is perfect, then, that the theme for the Pep Rally on January 19th, 2018 at 1:45 pm is “Health and Wellness.” ASB and the American Heart Association are planning events throughout the month to help educate and motivate students to lead healthier lives. Stress reduction techniques are much-needed skills during exam time.

The Film Club is busy this month as the Palm Springs International Film Festival comes to town. The Film Club took a trip to see films on January 8, and they will be spending all of Saturday, January 13th, 2018 volunteering at the Film Festival. What a great opportunity for our students!

If you need service hours, there is a project for Martha’s Village that can be completed in Madame Mulé’s classroom after school most afternoons. Contact Mme Mulé (mmule@pvs.org) if you want to stay and work. Also, on Saturday, January 27th, 2018, there is an opportunity to get hours at the Palm Springs Health Run Fitness. Go to www.palmspringshealthrun.com/volunteers for a list of positions and descriptions. Don’t forget to wear your United Way t-shirt!

Lastly, there is a CSF & Friends field trip to see a USC basketball game and go on a school tour January 28th, 2018 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Contact Ms. Zachik (szachik@pvs.org) for further information.

Have a great new year!
