In many ways it takes being apart to realize how much it means to be together. I applaud how well our Palm Valley School faculty transitioned gracefully from traditional classroom offerings to a more distanced teaching platform, but I also know how much they miss interacting directly with their students. The Firebird Community, now more than ever, becomes a conduit of support for each other.
We recognize this is a challenging time for so many and while we are in the midst of establishing protocols to safeguard the health of our most vulnerable members, we have heard from PVS alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who want to help. For those able to provide contributions, unrestricted gifts to the Palm Valley School Annual Fund prioritizes the impact where it matters most. The Annual Fund is our greatest-need fund, helping to support financial aid requests, infrastructure upgrades, and technology for virtual learning resources. Tuition alone does not cover the actual cost of educating our students, so we rely on gifts to the Annual Fund to help us close the gap.
Palm Valley School is an exceptional learning community that educates, nurtures, and challenges each student to achieve excellence and contribute to our global society. We are the only independent school in California with nursery through secondary school programs all at a single location. A true cradle-to-college learning experience made possible because of our deeply engaged, skilled faculty, as well as our passionate and inclusive constituency. Our beautiful campus provides the space, facilities and the resources for us to provide academic rigor while continuing to meet the socio-emotional needs of each student. It is a considerable challenge for any school to provide a safe, healing environment for young people recovering from the instability of these difficult days, but as our Firebird mascot represents regeneration through adversity, we believe better days lie ahead. We remain committed to partnering with our families towards a brighter and healthier future together. Join us, your giving is essential!

Tax-Free Annual Gift: Tuition through direct payment by persons other than parents, such as Grandparents, other family members, friends, or mentors is a strategy where there are significant tax advantages applicable to the donor and to the recipient. Provided these payments are made directly to PVS, they are not subject to gift tax or the normal annual gifting limits. Please contact our Business Office for more information.
Business Donations: Many school community members run successful businesses and are able to generously contribute donations of services or gift certificates for PVS fundraising auctions or school events. These are fully tax-deductible and a great way to let others in the PVS community know about how a business helps support our school. If you’re able to provide such a donation to one of our events, please contact our Director of Admissions and Advancement at firstname.lastname@example.org.
