Weekly Notes from the Preschool Director, Sept. 13

Dear Preschool Families,

It looks like we are getting into the rhythm! Children are familiar with routines and know what to expect each day. During morning drop-off times, please remember we encourage all families from Crickets to Coyotes, please tell your child goodbye and inform them of your departure. Leaving without notice can cause your child to feel abandonment, and it is terrifying for them to see you there one minute while gone the next.

Please be careful during pick up. There is a lot of traffic, and it is easy for children to fall behind or run ahead of you. If you see any unsafe activity, please report to Mrs. Chavez-Rodriguez.

Tuesday, 9/26: All School Picture Day
Preschool Dress Uniform Guidelines:
Girls: Red Polo Dress or White Oxford Dress Shirt with Firebird Logo Black Skirt/Skort (or long black pants).
Boys: White Oxford Dress Shirt with Firebird Logo, Blank long pants, Black belts.

Bucket Filling
Last week children took home a metal bucket with a bucket filling pledge. Please review this with your child daily. We want children to be bucket fillers by “using kind words, being helpful, and using gentle hands.”

I saw an example of this in the Quail classroom. A child was upset and crying that their parent had left. A classmate came close, stooped down and reached out to the upset child for comfort, and immediately a friendship flourished!

We want to avoid “bucket dipping.” Bucket dipping is when we use unkind words, hurt others or do not listen to the teacher.

Morning Coffee with the Preschool Director
Our first Morning Coffee is Friday9/22 at 8:45 - 9:45 amJoin other Preschool families and me to get to know each other and learn more about what is happening in our classes. Please come to the E-10 PK building. We will host this in the farthest right room (also known as the nap room). Hope to see you there!

Martha’s Village
Children are bringing in their bag with recyclables. We would like to amend the request from any recycling product to only plastic bottles as it much safer for children to participate. Every week children have made several deposits and it great to see.
Thank you for your support!

Kindly,

Mrs. Chavez-Rodriguez
Preschool Director
