Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 4/10

Dear Preschool Families,

It has been a HOT week at Palm Valley! It looks like the sun is here to stay. We will be in the 90s (or higher) for the rest of the school year. It is a good time to make sure your child has some sort of CLOSED TOE water shoes at school as children tend to be drawn to water play when it is hot. It is also a great idea to check and see if their change of clothes is appropriate for this warm weather. If you would like us to apply sunscreen to your child you must bring in a bottle for your child that is not expired and you must fill out a form. Once this happens we would be happy to apply sunscreen to your child throughout the day.

It is now Art Month in the Preschool. This is one of my favorite curriculum themes as we study various forms of creativity and expression. The children are introduced to different styles, mediums, and forms giving them new tools to express themselves and understand the world around them. Stay tuned for our Art show immediately following the dance recital next month!

You may have noticed that we are hosting a Coin Drive. There are buckets in each building for collecting coins. Bring in your loose change and place it in the bucket of who you want to slime: Mrs. Rice, Mr. Klausz, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Mulé, or Ms. Steinman. The last day to “vote” and bring in your coins is next Thursday, April 18th. Whoever has the most coins in their bucket at the end of the day on Thursday will get slimed at Friday’s morning assembly!

Spring Break is the week of April 22nd. We will be running a mini-camp from April 23rd-26th. If you are interested please click here to sign up.

Next Friday, April 19th is a busy day:

  • We have an egg hunt in each classroom and we will need your help.  We are asking each family to bring in plastic eggs for every child in their class.  Please see the handout for more detailed instructions as the format differs slightly from class to class.  Click here for a digital version of the flyers for each class.
  • This is a half day for all students. There is no after-school care and everyone must be picked up at noon.
  • There will be no pizza served on this day.

Re-enrollment contracts are overdue! I will be contacting all families who have not yet returned their contracts (or let us know that they won’t be returning). Please turn in your contract soon, as some of the classrooms in the Preschool will fill up quickly. Please be advised that after May 1st you are taken off the rosters and are subject to the re-application process and new family fee if you then wish to enroll. If you have a special circumstance and/or any particular questions about the contract please feel free to contact me, Mrs. Rice or the business office to discuss.
