Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 3/6

Dear Preschool Families,

Thank you to everyone who attended the Gala this past Saturday! It was quite the party and we raised a lot of money for a wonderful cause - our children’s education. If you were unable to attend the event, don’t worry, you can still get in on the fun by participating in our online auction which will continue until Friday, March 15th at 10:00 PM. There are over 100 great items both local and out-of-market. Gift cards to your favorite restaurants, fun and unique experiences, activities with teachers, and more! Visit www.pvs.org/auction to bid.

Today is Parent-Teacher Conference day. I hope you enjoy your conferences and receive all of the information you need regarding your child’s progress. Just a reminder that there is complimentary childcare available during conference time only. In order to help us gauge our effectiveness with these conferences, we ask that you fill out a brief anonymous survey about your experience: click here to fill out the survey.

The Used Uniform and Spirit store is open during Student Led Conferences today from 10 am - 12 pm and regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

Monday, March 11th is a Professional Development Day. There is no school on this day, but we are offering a mini camp. Please sign up here ASAP so that we can accurately determine our staffing needs.

Birthdays
We have had a number of birthdays these last few weeks, which is great! We love celebrating these special days with all of our students and their families. I do want to remind everyone that we do not allow sugary treats for birthday celebrations in school. I also want to stress the difference between celebrating a birthday in school and having a birthday party. We are happy to acknowledge birthdays and take 10-15 minutes to celebrate. If you are looking for a celebration with decorations, goody bags, etc. then I would ask that you plan a party outside of school.

Parking
Please refrain from parking right outside the preschool to pick up your child.  All vehicles need to park in our parking lot adjacent to the E-9 building. We have made some special exceptions for parents recovering from surgery/injury but those cases need to be cleared with me first. Please feel free to speak to me if you have a special situation that requires you to leave your car parked directly outside the PS.

Parent Diversity Night
What is Gender? Why does it matter? Please join us on Thursday, March 7that 5 pm to view the National Geographic Film, GENDER REVOLUTION, narrated by Katie Couric followed by a Q/A led discussion. Diversity Night is hosted and presented by the Board Committee for Equity and Justice.  Click here to register. Event is FREE and open to the public.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Invite your grandparents and special friends to join us for our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day breakfast and ceremony on Friday, March 15th. Breakfast starts at 7:30 am followed by a special student performance. The day's events will conclude at 12 pm. The Preschool will remain open until the usual 5:30 pm time. As a reminder, if you are planning to have a grandparent or special friend pick up your child after the program you must have them added to your authorized pick up list.  Please see me if you would like to add them or are unsure if they are already on your authorized list.
