Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 12/5

Dear Preschool Families,

‘Tis the season for holiday cheer, but also sniffles, sneezes, and coughs. We have had a wave of general illness throughout the preschool this week. We will be doing extra thorough cleanings to try and sanitize the center and keep everyone healthy. Please help us out and keep your child home if they are sick. As a reminder, all children need to be fever free for 24 hours (without medication) in order to return to school. Thank you for helping keep our community healthy.

Next week on Thursday, December 13th it is the Winter Sing for all Quails, Coyotes, and Jackrabbits (and all of LS). The show starts at 9 am so please arrive at school no later than 8:30 am. Families are invited to join us in the gymnasium. All students who are singing need to wear a uniform on this day. If you have any questions about the uniform or the Winter Sing please do not hesitate to contact me.

Traditions month is now underway. Thank you to everyone who has already come into the classroom and shared with the children. It is so important that we share these things that make our families unique. When we do this we tell our children that our personal culture is worth celebrating and sharing and we give them the opportunity to feel accepted by the whole community. I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can in the classroom.

The last week before break, December 17th - 21st is Spirit Week! Students are welcome to participate, but please remember that they must wear athletic shoes to school:
Monday: Tourist Day
Tuesday: Sports Day
Wednesday: Ugly Sweater Day
Parents are encouraged to attend the assembly/parade. Buddy groups will meet in the gym at 8:20 am and have a parade to show off their unusual holiday sweaters. This will be followed by the Parent Association serving hot chocolate outside the snack shop. All PS students will be attending the parade. Hummingbirds, Quails, Coyotes, and Jackrabbits will also enjoy the hot chocolate station after the parade. We will need parent volunteers to help us supervise all PS students during the assembly/parade. If you are available please let your classroom teachers know.
Thursday: Decades Day
Friday: Pajama Day. On this day, students will be dismissed at noon. There is no lunch or After-Care.
