Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 11/14

Dear Preschool Families,

On Monday we celebrated Veterans Day at Palm Valley. Our Preschoolers did a fantastic job! I want to thank Mrs. Chaffins for helping all the children practice and perform the songs for the ceremony. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the children and our school for honoring the people that have put their lives on the line to protect and preserve our country and the ideals it stands for. This is truly one of those special events that you can only find at a school like Palm Valley. We should all feel extremely proud to be part of this community!

December is Traditions Month in the Preschool. Each classroom invites their families to come in and share a special tradition. One of the many great things about Palm Valley is our commitment to diversity. We can all benefit from the sharing of ideas, traditions, and cultures. If you have the time please consider sharing with your child’s classroom. A flyer will be sent home Friday with specific details for each class and information on how you can sign up. We hope you are able to join us next month in celebrating the uniqueness of every family in our community.

Please join us for some Thanksgiving fun next week during our Mini Camp. Each day will feature a special Thanksgiving activity and craft to celebrate all that we are thankful for! This Mini-Camp is available for Preschool students during Thanksgiving Break on November 19th - 21st. Sign up here.

Mark your calendar for Giving Tuesday! Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season.

#GivingTuesday is a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy nationwide. On Tuesday, November 27th, give your gift to Palm Valley School via our website, social media, or in person to receive a special social media shout out! The Drowsy Chaperone
Please join the Palm Valley Upper School Drama students for a performance of the musical comedy, "The Drowsy Chaperone." This is a crazy-fun parody of American musical comedies of the 1920s. A middle-aged, asocial musical theatre zealot sits in a chair in his small apartment playing the record of his favorite musical, the 1928 hit… THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. The show comes to life onstage with all its characters singing and dancing to the music of the 20’s. As the story unfolds, the man in the chair wryly comments to the audience on the music, the story, the actors and even his own complicated life. We are excited to share fun and laughter in 5 performances!  Please be aware that the play is rated PG and may not be appropriate for young children. Purchase tickets here.
