Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 1/16

Dear Preschool Families,

A wave of illness has hit the Preschool (and larger PVS community). Please help us stop it in its tracks by keeping your child home if they are sick. Just a reminder of our sick policy; as a general rule if a child is sick they must be sent home and cannot return to school until they are 24 hours free of symptoms without medication or until they have taken antibiotics for a day. That being said, there are always grey areas with young children. We will be erring on the side of caution this week as we try to keep the entire community healthy. We have also been extra diligent when cleaning and sanitizing the rooms this week and will continue to do so.

The competition is on for which class will reach 100% participation in our annual fund giving competition. I am hoping that one of our PS grades will be the first!  Each class to reach 100% participation will be invited to a Family Ice Cream Social on February 1st. Let’s show the rest of PVS how dedicated we are in the Preschool and reach that goal! Kindergarten and Grade 10 are in the lead with 57%.

This Monday, January 21st, the school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day. There will be no mini-camp offered on this day and offices are closed. In the Preschool, we will be learning about some of the messages Dr. King wanted to impart to us all. Peace, justice, and fairness are just a few of the themes being discussed this week in our classrooms.

Norman’s Uniform Sale
Norman’s Uniforms will be on campus Wednesday, January 23rd from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm in the Upper School lobby. All sizes and styles will be available for purchase.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
Mark your calendars for a complimentary screening of the film, Won’t You Be My Neighbor? on Tuesday, February 5th at 5:00 pm in the MPR. This film chronicles the life of Fred Rogers and how he tried to make a positive impact on young children through his messages of empathy, compassion, honesty, and kindness. This showing is for parents only, and there will be a short Q & A after the conclusion of the film. RSVP here.
