Weekly Notes from Preschool Director, 11/6

Dear Preschool Families,

Wow! What a wonderful turnout at our Annual PVS Fall Festival this past Saturday. A huge shout out to our Parents Association for their hard work, as well as special thanks to Briana Jordan, our PS Vice President. Last week was filled with all kinds of fun events and spirit days and I want to thank all of our parent volunteers and parent participation in these events. As we get into November you will see more various activities and events for parent involvement and I will keep you informed as they come up.

Tomorrow, we have our rescheduled Earthquake Drill at 10:20 am. We continue to talk in our classrooms about how to best ensure the safety of students and their friends during earthquakes. We teach our students to drop, cover, and hold on in the event of an earthquake. It is also a great reminder to parents to have a safety plan in place at home for emergency purposes.

On Friday, we have our Veterans Day rehearsal. I am asking that all E10 students arrive at school before 8:00 am since we will have rehearsal starting at 8:30 am in the gym. Palm Valley School is open on November 11th, 2019 and will have a performance starting at 8:30 am in the gym. Again, we ask that all students arrive before 8:00 am that day and in formal dress uniform. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your student’s teacher. We invite all of our families to join us for this celebration as we thank our service members for their sacrifice. It is one of my favorite events on campus!

Last, but not least, next week on November 13th we have SenseAbilies coming out to do their speech and language screening. If you are interested in your child being screened, please be sure to fill out and turn in a permission slip for your child by Friday, November 8th. You can ask any Lead Teacher or me to print one out for you. The primary objective of the screening is to develop the most effective, multi-faceted program to improve your student’s daily function in regards to speech and language.

Box Tops for Education
Did you know that Box Tops for Education is now digital? The company is slowly phasing out the actual "cut-outs" from their products. Just download the app and scan receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash for Palm Valley School. Box Tops has great incentives for families that shop at Costco, Walmart, Stater Brothers, Food for Less, etc... There are many new products on their list, but you don't need to know what products are eligible. When you scan your receipt in the 14-day period, the app does all the work for you. Once scanned, it will show what purchased products were eligible for earning cash, how much was earned by the individual user and the total earned for Palm Valley School. Don’t forget to tell the whole family so anyone who shops can earn for Palm Valley School! If you have questions, our Palm Valley School Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, dienys@hotmail.com. (You may still drop off any box tops cutouts that are not expired in the designated Box Top box located in each of our preschool buildings.)
