Weekly Notes from Preschool Director, 10/30

Dear Preschool Families,

What an amazing Spirit Week we are having! It has been so much fun seeing our students come to school in pajamas, dressing up for Twin Day and today with Fanatics Day! Tomorrow is our Costume Day Assembly along with our Costume Parade/Trick-or-Treating. When it comes to student costumes, please remember that masks and props/weapons are not permitted. All students must be in sneakers as well. To get ready for our assembly, please have your student here by 8:00 am! If your student is in the E9 Preschool building, I am asking parents to please help those students walk to the assembly and also down the parade route. If your student is in our E10 building, please meet us in the Gym for the 8:20 am assembly and then line the parade route so we have a preschool parent presence there to cheer the students on!

This week, Mrs. Bhakta and her son Dev come in and read a few books to us about Diwali to our PK students. We learned that Diwali is commonly known as the Festival of Lights and is celebrated over a five-day period. Thank you, Mrs. Bhakta, for sharing your tradition with our students! On Monday afternoon, our students also made traditional Rangoli drawings using chalk with our older buddies!

Yesterday, Palm Valley Preschool held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our Little Free Library which was graciously donated by the Junior League of Palm Springs Desert Communities. I want to thank the Junior League of Palm Springs Desert Communities as well as the partnership we have with the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce, City of Rancho Mirage, and the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce for coming to support us in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The concept of our little library is to allow students an opportunity to take home books and replace them with a new book to share with others. Palm Valley School recognizes the importance of an introduction to reading while at school and at home. We hope all our families in the community will utilize this opportunity to share in the joy of reading. Please feel free to add books to our collection!

The Fall Festival is finally here! Please join us this Saturday, November 2nd from 3-6 PM. We have so many fun activities planned as well as a variety of food and beverage options and our annual Bake Sale. Admission is free and tickets for all of the activities and food will be available for purchase at the event (cash or credit card).

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS! Most of the activities require an adult to supervise and take tickets. We have many 1-hour volunteer shifts that we still need to fill. Please consider signing up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050545ABAA2DAAFC1-pvs2019

Additionally, if you can donate something to our Bake Sale or provide some of the other items that we need for the festival, we would greatly appreciate your contribution: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050545ABAA2DAAFC1-pvs20191

The Spirit Store will not be open this Thursday or on Friday morning of this week. However, there will be a booth set up during the Fall Festival which will have new jackets, t-shirts, hats, and visors, as well as a great selection of clearance items! Please come and support our school by purchasing our PVS spirit items!

I want to give a friendly, but firm reminder to our parents/guardians that you are not allowed to park or briefly stop to exit your vehicle alongside any red curbs or marked zones on campus. This can pose several safety issues, including fire code violations, on campus. I will continue to address directly any families that continue to do this.

Upcoming Dates:
Thursday, October 31st: Halloween Assembly and Parade
Friday, November 1st: Red “Spirit” Day
Saturday, November 2nd: Fall Festival 3:00 pm-6:00 pm
Tuesday, November 5th: PA Meeting in MPR 8:15 am-9:00 am
Thursday, November 7th: Outdoor Classroom Day celebration!

Best,

Ms. Kaira Beach
