Weekly Notes from Head of Preschool, 9/18

Dear Preschool Families,

As we are closing in on our first month of school, we do have some students who come down with colds and various other bugs. I want to assure our families that we sanitize with our food-grade sanitizer throughout the day and then do a bleach spray each night to help prevent the spread of illnesses. If your child is sick, has a runny nose, fever, lethargic, throwing up, loose bowel movements or various other things, please keep your child at home. If we feel your child is not well enough to be at school, we will call you to come to pick them up. We must work together to help prevent more students from getting sick. If you have questions about our policy, please do not hesitate to ask.

This September our students have been learning about themselves. Who they are, who are the members of their families, their emotions and actions, and how that can affect others. This is a great time to talk to your children about how they see the world they live in. Some of our students looked in the mirror and drew self-portraits and told us what they saw, and some of our students created representations of their family using classroom crafts. When you have an opportunity, take a walk around your child’s classroom. Various artwork, pictures, dictations, and more are now displayed on the walls.

I would like to introduce our new Parent Association Vice President of Preschool, Mrs. Briana Jordan. Mrs. Jordan has a daughter in our Preschool program and has been a huge help over the past two school years! If you are interested in helping throughout the school year, please contact Ms. Jordan through email, Briana@brudvikinc.com  She will be helping to coordinate many school events as well as Preschool happenings and communications! Thank you, Ms. Jordan, for your dedication to Palm Valley School!

We are starting our Water Bottle Drive for Martha’s Village. This is a tradition the Preschool has done for a number of years. We ask our students to collect plastic water bottles and bring them to school. At the end of the school year, we take all the money we have raised and give Martha’s Village a check. It is a great opportunity for our students to learn how to give back to their community. This year, we are providing each student with their own bag so they can transport the water bottles themselves. We hope this will give them a sense of pride and responsibility in giving back to our community.

Mark your calendars and plan on attending the Effective Financial Planning Night, presented by Dennis Stewart of Educational Funding Solutions on Thursday, October 24th at 5:30 pm in the MPR. This informative meeting will show you how you can develop a plan to meet your children’s college education and your retirement needs. You can never start too early! I will be in attendance, so I hope to see many of you there!

#TogetherWeRise is this year's theme for our school's annual fund drive and it's only with your support that our students, faculty, and programs can continue to rise. We hope that you will consider supporting our school this year with a gift. Whether you can afford to give $25 or $25,000, your gift matters to us and helps us to drive up the participation percentage and reach our goal of $350,000. You can give by clicking here or making a visit to our Business Office. We are proud to be Firebirds and want you to know that it is only together that we continue to rise.
