Weekly Notes from the Head of Preschool, 6/5

Dear Preschool Families,

Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful year! It was truly a magical experience filled with learning, discovery, and growth. We will be focusing on the children these last couple of days as we wrap up another year in the Preschool at Palm Valley. The Preschool is the foundation of a Palm Valley education. Our students’ achievements cannot be easily recorded through assignments, tests, and homework, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t valuable. It starts with our youngest students, the infants, learning to separate from their families and navigate a new world of relationships, discovery, inquiry, and investigation with both their peers and their teachers. As they progress through the Preschool they learn from each other, as well as their teachers, how to understand the world around them and how to make meaning out of the constant stream of new ideas that flow through their minds. They learn how to explore and solve problems, to listen to and communicate ideas, and to collaborate with each other in a way that provides a deeper meaning. As we send our Pre-Kindergarten graduates off to Lower School next year, we know that they are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead of them.

On a personal note, it has truly been my honor to serve this community this year. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of working with all of your children. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of all of your lives this year. I wish you all the best of luck and a wonderful and relaxing summer.
