Eblast from the Preschool Director, 8/30

Dear Preschool Families,

What a wonderful start to the 2020-2021 school year! All of our Firebirds are adjusting nicely to the new routine and new environment. It is such a joy to see old friends reconnecting and new friendships developing inside classrooms. As we all settle into the routine of the school year, I want to stress how important it is to build a consistent schedule for your child. Children do best when they can predict what is next. Building this familiarity is extremely important to your child’s success in school. I have enjoyed seeing returning students, as well as new students, make connections with their new teachers and friends.

I want to thank all of our families for working with us during these unusual times. I know this is an adjustment from previous years and with your help, it will become easier as time progresses. Your continued support has already provided a path for a cohesive and successful school year for everyone!

As a reminder, please ensure that you have logged onto your child’s ClassDojo. This platform will be utilized for weekly photos, classroom updates/reminders, Friday Newsletters, as well as weekly lesson plans for your child. If you are having difficulty signing up for ClassDojo, please reach out to me or your child’s Lead Teacher.

Additionally, as I am going through student files, I will be personally reaching out to the families that are missing required documents. Thanks in advance for getting this paperwork in - it’s crucial. Our Parent’s Association (PA) would love for you to get involved and is requesting that every family fill out a PA Volunteer Form. Once completed, please turn it in to me as soon as possible.

I do want to remind our families that our academic day is from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Our After-Care is from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The fee is $8.00 for the first hour or $15.00 for the day. We do not bill incrementally. There may be a late fee for students picked up after 5:30 pm.

You may have noticed that you don't need to clip box tops anymore! Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy-to-use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. When online shopping, you can still earn box tops for purchased goods by submitting your emailed receipt(s) from certain retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, dienys@hotmail.com.

Similar to Box Tops, Amazon Smile is a program that can help support PVS. With families purchasing from Amazon, especially during the pandemic, remembering to conduct their purchases through smile.amazon.com and indicating PVS, a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school. These are small ways to help earn money for our learning community and every dollar for PVS counts!

Thank you for an amazing start to a new school year. I am excited to see our students continue to grow within our care. As always, feel free to contact your classroom teachers if you have any questions about your child. My door is always open, let me know if I can help. These e-blasts carry a lot of information so please make sure to read until the bottom to stay up-to-date with your child’s classroom and upcoming activities.
