Eblast from the Preschool Director, 3/14

Preschool Families,

As many of you know, Ms. Beach, soon-to-be Mrs. Nayfack is away celebrating her wedding. On behalf of the entire Firebird community, we would like to extend congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Nayfack.

First and foremost, I would like to thank our families for taking time out of your day to attend our Parent-teacher conferences. Communication and alliance between home and school is a critical element in our student’s success. Our preschool teachers are honored to work alongside you and thank you for your continued partnership. If you were unable to attend, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s lead teacher for rescheduling.

Our Preschool and Pre-K students are all very excited to embark on our new monthly theme of insects. Each class will visually observe the stages of butterflies and ladybugs. Our classrooms will discuss the stages of metamorphosis and actively participate in the care and development of these insects. Each year, I look forward to watching the final release ceremony, as students proudly release the butterflies and ladybugs into their natural habitat. This project not only encourages science exploration but also promotes responsibility.

I hope you enjoyed the Grandparents and Special Friends Day video we sent on Friday. Attached is the link to view it: GPSF DAY

As we approach the spring season, I would like to announce the next Preschool fundraiser! On Friday, March 26th, we will have an on-campus photo opportunity with a spring bunny. Tickets will be available through this eventbrite link. As always, the health and safety of our students is our top priority. We will be taking all necessary precautions to accommodate social distancing for these photos. As part of our ongoing effort to give back to the community, $5.00 of every purchased ticket will be donated to Martha’s Village.

Mischievous Leprechauns have been very busy creating messes inside our classrooms. Each year, classroom leprechauns visit, leaving clues and sometimes footprints behind! Individual classrooms will be engaging in their own celebrations. On Wednesday, March 17th, we encourage all students to wear green as we celebrate St. Patrick's day!

Scholastic Book Fair (Virtual)
This year, our Scholastic Book Fair will be from March 9 - 22nd. This event will be completely virtual. When you purchase books/items from Scholastic, your orders will be sent directly to your home and if you spend $25 or more, shipping will be free! The proceeds directly benefit our PVS teachers. Our school uses the proceeds to build up classroom libraries and purchase supplemental materials.

Preschool Summer Camps (limited spots available)
We want to provide a Summer camp series to our preschool families as a small extension of our school year. We will have low ratios and minimum space available each week. Our camp will be STEAM-themed which embodies science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics activities. STEAM helps incorporate multiple disciplines at the same time and promotes learning experiences that allow children to explore, question, research, discover, and exercise innovative building skills.
Our camp will be held in our E9 Preschool building Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. We will not be providing AM/PM snacks as well as lunch. To register for our Summer Camp, please click on this link.

‘The Firebird Oasis’ - PVS Event (Adults Only) - March 27, 6pm
We have already reached 50% capacity! Now is the time to purchase your tickets or table to The Firebird Oasis, as attendance is limited.  You're invited to connect with the PVS community at this first-annual event that reinvents the traditional school 'gala'. Join us for the opportunity to socialize safely outdoors, discover a new cocktail with tasting stations, jam out to music outside of your living room, enjoy delicious food made by someone else, participate in pop-up party games, and bid on unique live auction items - all while supporting the school! Dust your party shoes off, rock your favorite mask, and get ready for an evening to remember.
