Can you believe that we have made it to the 100th day of school? I know I can’t! Tomorrow, we are dressing up as 100-year-olds to celebrate the day in our classrooms. I am looking forward to seeing how our students and faculty dress up! I know our teachers have planned so many thoughtful activities for the day and we will be sure to take photos.
I would like to remind our families that due to COVID and the safety precautions we have put in place, parents and guardians are not permitted to pass the health screening station in either of our Preschool buildings. Our drop off time in the morning is from 7:30 am-8:30 am, we are sure to have someone assigned to the health screening area at the time to help your child get checked in. If you arrive later than that, the school day has already begun and you may have to wait a little longer to have your child checked in due to faculty being in classrooms for the school day. I thank you for your understanding and commitment to keeping our faculty and students safe during this time.
Valentines’ Day is coming up! We will be celebrating Valentines’ Day in our cohort classrooms with various activities on Friday, February 12th. The thoughtfulness at the moment and the care of each other as classmates are all the gifts our students need. Please bring one paper Valentine for each student in your child’s classroom. Do not write the names of your child’s classmates on the envelopes for cards. Please include who the Valentine is from. This makes it easier for our students to pass out their own valentines to their classmates. We ask you to refrain from bringing in additional toys or candy. We want our students to focus on the caring aspect of the holiday and not have the distraction of candy or toys. If any of these items are brought to school, we will send them home.
Our Spirit Store will now be open every Wednesday from 7:30 - 8:30 am. If this is not convenient, you can email them: email@example.com.
Family Field Trip- Day at the Zoo
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens welcomes local students and families to a wildly good time at the zoo. Bring the classroom to life with a visit to The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Spend the day with your family exploring all that is Wonderfully Wild in your own backyard. If you plan to attend, please ask Ms. Beach for a voucher. Students (PS-12 grade) $8.00 Parents/Guardians/Chaperones: $12.00 (max 2 adults/visit)
Preschool Summer Camps (limited spots available)
We want to provide a Summer camp series to our preschool families as a small extension of our school year. We will have low ratios and minimum space available each week. Our camp will be STEAM-themed which embodies science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics activities. STEAM helps incorporate multiple disciplines at the same time and promotes learning experiences that allow children to explore, question, research, discover, and exercise innovative building skills.
Our camp will be held in our E9 Preschool building Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. We will not be providing AM/PM snacks as well as lunch. To register for our Summer Camp, please click on this link.
Box Tops for Education
Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy to use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible, when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. When online shopping for groceries, you can still earn box tops for purchased goods by submitting your emailed receipt from certain retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Amazon Smile is another program that can help support PVS. When families purchase from Amazon, visiting smile.amazon.com first and indicating PVS as their donation site of choice will bring monies into our school (plus it will now remember PVS for each purchase once you have indicated it the first time), a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school.
