October 3, 2021
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. My weekend is filled with a full day of soccer games on Saturdays and football on Sundays! I hope everyone is taking advantage of the weather that we have been having. We have officially started our Outdoor Day program in our preschool this past week. Our students are enjoying a full morning of outside activities on Mondays and Fridays. Please remember to apply sunscreen each morning and bring a reusable water bottle to school every day.
A huge thank you to our E10 families who signed up to bring items for donations for our local Fire Department and Sheriff Department. We appreciate your support within our community as well as our school. Mrs. Thavilian has provided a bin for these donations, which is located by our sign in table. All donations will need to be brought in before October 14th.
We will be having our Annual Halloween Parade of Costumes (with some modifications for safety protocols.) Students will be gathering in the gym at 9:00 am on Friday, October 29th. At this time, Dr. Sherman will announce the winners of the classroom door decorating contest. Parents are invited to view the parade by lining up outside on the pathway leading from the gym to the Lower School. The parade will begin at approximately 9:15 am. We ask that parents wear masks.
We encourage students to dress up and have fun but remember - no "blood,” "weapons,” or revealing costumes. If the costume includes a mask, it cannot be worn in the class, and it does not replace the masks we require all students and adults to wear inside for safety. Students must wear athletic shoes- this is for safety, no exceptions.
Veterans Day has always been a special day at PalmValley School. Prior to COVID, we would get together as a community and provide an assembly where students would sing songs, and we would invite members from our community to talk about their service. Unfortunately, due to COVID, we are unable to provide a ceremony that invites our families and community members. Instead, we will be conducting a small assembly for students and staff only and talk about the importance of our veterans. We would like our school community to join us in raising money for The Wounded Warrior Project. Wounded Warrior Project has been transforming the lives of America's injured veterans and their families through programs and services in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, improving the lives of warriors and their families. If you would like to donate towards the WWP, please do so by clicking here.
Professional Development Day/Parent-Teacher Conferences
We do have a school closure date coming up on Monday, October 11th and November 1st. Please be reminded that our Preschool will be closed on October 11th so that our preschool staff can participate in Professional Development Day. On November 1st, we will be conducting our first Parent-Teacher Conference day this school year. You will have the option to either come in person for this meeting or attend virtually. Sign Ups for conferences will be posted later in October.
