Kocen, Sam ’15

Sam Kocen was born and raised in the Coachella Valley and attended the Palm Valley School from Preschool-12th grade. During his time at Palm Valley, he ran for the Track and Cross Country Teams as well played for the Soccer team.

After graduation, Sam attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he is currently a junior. Sam is a Pre-Med and Sociology major. At Dartmouth, he works for Dartmouth Emergency Medical Services, a student-run, student-led basic life support agency on campus.

During the summers, Sam works as a Philmont Ranger, a backpacking guide in the rugged wilderness of Northeastern New Mexico. He instructs Scouts in how to enjoy the wilderness, while also teaching the central tenants of servant leadership.

Recently, Sam has accepted an offer at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He will remain in Hanover for another four years to complete his medical training. Sam’s family still lives in Rancho Mirage and he makes sure to visit the school when he comes home.
