Dear Middle School Families,
One of the programs I love most here at Palm Valley is our Advisory. Most mornings and afternoons, our students meet in their Advisory class to work on building rapport and trust. I believe that in order to get the best out of our students, it is critical to build a relationship with them. I look forward to our advisory classes each day because it is an opportunity to bond while infusing some joy into what can be a very long day. This connection helps to create a caring and supportive environment. I encourage you to get better acquainted with your student’s Advisory teacher as this is the person who will help support and advocate for your student at any time, especially when something important is happening in their life.
Here are a few reminders:
Students and families can use our school portal, MyBackpack, to find information about schedules, homework, grades and fill out the necessary forms for the new school year. Students have their own MyBackpack accounts, and they should be using their own login and password to access their MyBackpack. All parents/guardians should have a MyBackpack WebID and be able to login and see MyDocuments. Forms to complete will be shown as "New.” Once they are completed they will be submitted to Administrative Assistants for approval. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. Gaines at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All School Picture Day
School photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 18th. Dress uniforms are required. If you do not have dress uniform wear, you can purchase these items from Norman’s Uniforms online. The guidelines for dress uniforms are in the Students' and Families' Handbook. Click here to visit Norman's website.
Middle School students are required to report to After-Care if they are still on campus at 3:35 pm. Supervision is required for us to have a safe campus. Students who are waiting for sports games, or practices, will not be charged but must be in After-Care.
After-School Pick Up
Thank you to students and families for using the crosswalks! Pick up is running safe and smooth.
Hot Lunch & Pizza
Hot lunch will start on Monday, September 10th. Pizza forms were sent out in the August mailing and should be returned by this Friday, September 7th. Pizza will begin Friday, September 14th.
Student Ambassador Program (5th-12th grades only)
Our Director of Enrollment Management, Ms. Shannon Markel is organizing student ambassadors for the new school year! If your student is interested in becoming an ambassador, please return the application to Ms. Markel by Friday, September 14th. If you did not receive an application, click here to download. This is a great opportunity for your student to meet teachers and students in other divisions and to learn valuable public speaking and leadership skills and build their college resume!
