Weekly Notes from the Head of Middle School, 9/26

Dear Middle School Families,

Middle school can be one of the hardest times in life. Students are transitioning from childhood to adolescence and face many new challenges. Friendships are changing, feelings of awkwardness can overwhelm, and even if they are surrounded by a group of their peers, they can often feel alone. Understanding what triggers their behavior can help us all to maintain empathy for our students. It is a critical time to keep the lines of communication open between parents, teachers, and students. My door is always open and I treasure any insight parents share with me about their child. As we head into Student Led Conferences, please also remember that your student’s Advisor is their advocate not just for their academic success, but also for their social and emotional success.

Next month, I will be hosting a series of Parent Coffees for 6th, 7th and 8th grade parents. Please stop by for a discussion on anything Middle School!
