Dear Middle School Families,
We began school on Wednesday with the same eagerness and excitement that every start of a new school year brings, even though we had to do it virtually. Students and teachers alike seemed happy to get back to some routine and I know we all loved seeing our students again. While we are distance learning, please be assured that our teachers will be flexible and supportive as students take time to readjust to their schedules. Feel free to contact your student’s Advisor for any extra information or support. Finally, if your student is having any difficulties with their chromebook, please contact their Advisor and Mr. Kisling (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible.
Students and families can use our school portal, MyBackpack, to find information about schedules, homework, and grades. Students have their own MyBackpack accounts, and they should be using their own login and password to access their MyBackpack. If students need help with MyBackpack, they can ask Mr. Kisling, email@example.com. If families are having trouble logging in, they can ask Ms. Jimenez (firstname.lastname@example.org). Teachers update MyBackpack with grades and assignments weekly.
Students are not allowed to apply any kind of sticker on their chromebook. Students who place stickers on their devices may be subject to a cleaning fee. Please help us remind your student to not decorate their chromebook in any way. Thank you!
This year the Associated Student Body (ASB) has developed and coordinated a new system for students that is team-based, collaborative, and competitive. Kudos to all of our ASB officers, Caroline Scheil, Andrew Hall, Hannah Hall, and Marianne Capetz who designed, and presented these spirited nests, which include the owls, herons, roadrunners, and hawks. We look forward to many fun and thrilling events throughout the year. Thank you also to our Director of Activities Ms. Clark and her ongoing support of students in their leadership endeavors.
You may have noticed that you don't need to clip box tops anymore! Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy to use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible, when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. When online shopping, you can still earn box tops for purchased goods by submitting your emailed receipt(s) from certain retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, email@example.com.
Similar to Box Tops, Amazon Smile is a program that can help support PVS. With families purchasing from Amazon, especially during the pandemic, remembering to conduct their purchases through smile.amazon.com and indicating PVS, a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school.
These are small ways to help earn money for our learning community and every dollar for PVS counts!
