Eblast from the Head of Middle School, 11/29

Dear Middle School Families,

I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday break. With only three weeks to go before our next one, these coming weeks will surely pass quickly and excitedly! Nevertheless, we want our MS students to stay motivated and on task. Please support them by ensuring they are keeping up with their homework and managing their time properly. Remember that Advisory teachers are available to help in this task as well. Feel free to reach out to your student’s Advisory teacher with any questions or concerns so that we can better support your student to finish strong by semester’s end.

MUS Community Service Project
Our Middle and Upper School students will be participating in a community service project this month to support the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. We are asking for donations of socks and travel sized toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, washcloths, razors, deodorant etc. Toiletry kits should be packaged at home in ziploc baggies and can then be dropped off in the middle or upper school lobbies. Donations are due by Wednesday, 16 December. Students may donate as many kits as they like.

You may now order the 2020-2021 Yearbook online for the early bird price of $55. Please note: the price increases after 4 January! You may purchase your yearbook  here.

Lost Items
Labeling your student’s items is a great way for us to ensure that any lost article can be returned to the rightful owner. With cool mornings and warm afternoons, I anticipate a collection of outerwear will begin to accumulate. Please help me facilitate the appropriate return of any lost items by making sure your child’s name is on their possessions.

Spirit Store
A new shipment of PVS sweatshirts has just arrived, so stop by soon to get yours.  Spirit Store hours remain the same: Wednesdays from 7:30AM - 8:00AM and Fridays from 2:00PM - 2:30PM.  Email spiritstore@pvs.org with any questions.

Poetry Recital Competition
It is Poetry Recitation time again at Palm Valley School. In the Middle and Upper School English classes, we are in the phase of looking for and memorizing poems for recitation and sharing. Through studying, memorizing, and performing influential and timeless poems, students immerse themselves in powerful expression and provocative ideas. This year, the final poetry celebrations will be attended by students, faculty and staff. We appreciate your support in encouraging your students to do their best.
