Weather Update from the Head of School, 2/14

Dear Families,

The rain has brought severe flooding to many parts of the valley. As such, I am reaching out to let you know the status of the school schedule and some options. I want to reassure you that your children are safe on campus and are being kept indoors for recess and lunch. We will remain open until all students get home safely. However, as a precaution for the safety of students, parent drivers, and our own faculty and staff, we are CANCELING the following activities:

  • Canceling all of today's athletic practices
  • Canceling and rescheduling today's basketball game
  • Canceling After-Care in the Lower and Middle School
  • Canceling all other after school campus activities (beyond 3:30 pm)

Additionally, we are seeing increases in road closures around the campus that are not yet an issue but could become so. Gerald Ford, Country Club, Date Palm, Ramon, and Frank Sinatra all have partial or full closures. While Da Vall remains open and our campus remains accessible at this time, we have had parents choose to sign out their children early today. We will make every effort to accommodate any academics missed if you choose to do so. Safety comes first, and we encourage you to make a choice that you feel is best for your child, family, and travel arrangements today. Reports state that the rain will continue throughout the day and we encourage you to consider what your needs are and make a decision if you wish to pick up your child early.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will keep you updated on any changes. Again, the school remains open and all students are safe indoors. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Susan Rice
Head of School
