Monday Notes from the Head of School, 4/15

"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work." - Colin Powell

Dear Palm Valley Families,

Spring has sprung! Our campus is alive with growth and renewal in so many ways. Not only are we seeing our trees and plants flowering and coming to life after all the rain this year, but our student body is growing in leaps and bounds as well! We are looking at waitlists for the fall in several of our Preschool classes and Middle School grades. We value small class sizes and low teacher-to-student ratios and as a result of some new families signing up for the fall, the slow return of re-enrollment contracts for current families may result in being placed on a waitlist or turned away! While this is not our hope, we want to remind everyone that we will preserve our commitment to small class sizes to facilitate individual attention to all students, so please don't wait until it's too late - get those contracts in soon! This is a great problem for us to have, but we don't want anyone left out! Thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our great school.

We are so excited about the coming spring break. Students and teachers need time to recharge and rest. Please note that this Friday, April 19th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at lunchtime and there is no After-Care or mini-camp that day. There is, however, a great camp open the following week for parents who need care during the break. You can sign up here. Additionally, registration for our "Curiosity Summer Camp" and our Extended Preschool Summer Session is now open! Curiosity Camp in June is open to students in Preschool through Grade 5, and our extended Summer Session is open for Preschool-aged children and lasts through August. Please join us for hands-on, inquiry-based, exploratory fun with faculty and student assistants this summer. From science to art, to sports and drama - there is something for everyone. We hope that you will consider bringing your children and inviting others. Our camps are open to the public, so please invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us too! You can sign up for Curiosity Camp, here and our Extended Preschool Summer Session, here.

As you may have heard, we are hosting a coin drive! This is the last week for students to "vote" for their favorite Administrator to be slimed at this Friday's assembly. We are pleased to welcome the NerdSlimers who will be preparing the green and gooey "slime" to be used. Please bring your loose coins into any Division's front desk to "vote" for your favorite administrator to be slimed. All proceeds benefit students and programs at Palm Valley School, so it's all in good fun and for a great cause! Parents are welcome to attend, too!

Make it a great week, Firebirds!

Warmly,

Susan Rice
