Dear Lower School Families,
This week is our first full week of school, and I can see students getting used to their schedules and the classroom routines. There is much to get used to, isn't there? These weekly e-blasts are intended to keep you informed. You can also consult the PVS website (pvs.org) for details and upcoming events.
I have scheduled Grade Level Coffees, and you'll be receiving an email invitation as we get closer to the events. These will take place in room E4-4 in the Lower School from 8:05 to 8:50 am. Mark your calendars: Kindergarten Wednesday, 9/27, First Grade Thursday, 9/28, Second Grade Thursday, 10/5, Third Grade Tuesday, 10/10, Fourth Grade Wednesday, 10/11, and Fifth Grade Thursday, 10/12.
There were some questions about Spirit Shirt days. Students may wear Palm Valley Spirit shirts on any Friday. Speaking of uniforms, Tuesday, 9/26 is all school picture day, and the First through Fifth graders have a field trip on Wednesday, 9/27. Students are required to wear dress uniforms on these days. Here is a summary of the dress uniform options:
Kindergarten:
Red Polo Dress OR
White Oxford Dress Shirt with Firebird Logo and neckwear
Black Skirt/Skort/Long pants
Black belts (only) should be worn with all dress black pants.
First - Fourth Grade:
Red plaid jumper with white Peter Pan top (no tie required) OR
White Oxford Dress Shirt with Firebird Logo and neckwear
Black Skirt/Skort/Long pants
Black belts (only) should be worn with formal dress black pants.
Fifth Grade:
White Oxford Dress Shirt with Firebird Logo and neckwear
Black Skirt/Skort/Long pants
Black belts (only) should be worn with formal dress black pants.
Shoes (all grades):
Shoes should aim to be as close to a single solid color as possible, be unobtrusive in appearance, and lack unusually bright colors.
Socks/Leggings (all grades):
Solid (without embellishments, pattern, or visible logos, etc.) colors only: white, black, tan, brown, gray, or red.
Please remember that we are collecting diapers, new socks, and underwear for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma. Students can bring these this Friday, 9/15 to the all school assembly.
The first student led conferences will be on Wednesday, 10/4. Teachers will be sending information for you to schedule your conference times. Teachers have a Professional Development Day on Monday, 10/9. The are no classes that day. There will, however, be a mini-camp available for a small fee. This will be held on the Lower School campus from 7:30 - 5:30. Mrs. McGrew and her staff have some fun activities planned. You will be receiving information soon.
Have a wonderful week!
Kindly,
Mrs. Fisher
Head of Lower School
