Happy Fall! I love this time of year, as students and teachers are taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and taking some of their learning outdoors. We are almost at the mid-term of the first quarter. Teachers and students are preparing for the student-led conferences on Wednesday, October 9th. This type of conferencing allows students to reflect on their learning and set goals. When students take responsibility for their learning and behavior and evaluate their progress, they build confidence and gain more significant commitment to their school work. Teachers will be sending sign up forms for you to make an appointment to meet. This student-led conference is not a time to discuss grades with the teacher. If you would like to do so, please contact the teacher to set up additional time. We do not have classes that day, but we will have a mini-camp. Click here for more information.
We also have a Professional Development Day on Monday, October 14th. There is no school on this day, but we have a great mini-camp planned. Use this link to register: mini-camp
Palm Valley School Lower School students, kindergarten through fifth grade will have the opportunity to participate in a multi-disciplinary learning experience: Space School, the Musical! This program was developed by NASA Discovery and New Frontiers Program along with KidTribe! The musical brings science to life through music and dance. Students will be working with their teachers and other Performing Arts Educators to rehearse, create costumes and sets, and get ready to perform! Rehearsals will take place in short sessions during the school day in the first two weeks of October. There will be two half-hour performances: Friday, October 18th at 7:00 pm in the gym, and Saturday, October 19th at noon in the gym. Every child has a part! We will be sending flyers home this Friday with more information.
