Weekly Notes from the Head of Lower School, 3/20

Dear Families,

It is difficult to believe that we are just two short weeks away from the end of the Third Quarter (the last day is Friday, March 29th). Time has flown, and, before you know it, the school year will be over. Sometimes we are so consumed with what is coming up, that we fail to look at all that we have accomplished. I invite you to take a moment to think about how much your student has grown since September. Has the door opened for them as readers? Have you seen the great writing they have done? Are they demonstrating new ways to solve real-life problems using math? Are they excited, motivated learners? Do they have strong friendships with peers? I can cite example after example of all these things and more. Take some time to talk about those academic successes with your students- they’ve worked hard and had much to celebrate.

Sadly, last week, we had to cancel a field trip to the McCallum Theater for three grades because we did not have enough parents who received clearance to drive on field trips. I know it is difficult for some of our families to chaperone because of work and other commitments. This makes it even more important for you to obtain clearance if you have not already done so. Please contact Ms. Erika Kaban in the Lower School Office to receive a clearance form.

Box Tops
Palm Valley School is participating in the Box Tops for Education program and you too can help earn money for our students. Drop off your collected box tops at school before they expire. Collection boxes are located in the Lower School office. We will be sending home a collection sheet for the spring season which is a great way to collect box tops. You can leave the entire sheet in the collection box on campus. We appreciate you taking the time to earn money for our school and to enhance education for all students with our earnings. For more information about the Box Tops for Education program, visit https://www.boxtops4education.com and if you have questions about our the program at PVS, contact Sarah Dunn (dienys@hotmail.com) who is volunteering as our Palm Valley School Coordinator.

Re-enrollment contracts are due. Please let me know if you’d like to set up a time to meet and discuss our academic program, ask questions about next year or meet any of the teachers. I am happy to meet with you. Classes are filling up already!
