Weekly Notes from the Head of Lower School, 2/12

Dear Families,

We are on the eve of the Mid-Winter Break. I wanted to highlight some of this month's hands-on learning opportunities in the Lower School- Kindergarten met with their 8th-grade buddies and learned how to tie their shoes. First Graders made Stop Motion videos with their buddies to commemorate the 100th Day. Tomorrow, Second Grade will visit the Desert Museum for an art workshop. Third Graders became engineers and thought about ways to reduce the impact of weather-related hazards. Fourth Graders used their newly acquired knowledge to design and create a California Mission using Minecraft for Education, and our Fifth Grade scientists are holding a science fair at the end of the week.

I hope you got to hear all about the activities for the 100th Day of school yesterday. Everyone had a great time! Thank you for your generous donations to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. The Mission picked up the items this morning and were very grateful. We will be having a special assembly on Friday, where a representative from the Mission will speak to the students and let them know how these items made a difference in the community.
