Weekly Notes from the Head of Lower School, 12/12

Dear Families,

Our Winter Break is a mere nine days away! You can definitely see that everyone is eager to start the break. One thing I enjoy about this time of year is asking the students to describe some of their favorite family traditions. No matter what holiday you celebrate, this break gives us all the opportunity to spend this holiday season building lifelong memories.

Please refer to the teachers' weekly newsletters and the school calendar for times and details: https://pvs.org/events/category/school-calendar/

It's toy making season, and Santa's Winter Workshop is open! Mr. Kroe is calling all of Santa's helpers to join him this holiday season for ornament making and tree painting. Our K-2 students thoroughly enjoyed making ornaments on Monday, and the families appreciated some time to finish holiday shopping. The next event for 3rd - 5th grade is open to the public and will be on Monday, December 17th. Purchase your tickets, here.

I hope to see everyone at our annual Winter Sing tomorrow, December 13th at 9 am in the gym. This year's concert is called Splendor and Peace. Our Preschool through Fifth-grade students have been working hard and are eager to perform. Please remember this is a formal dress uniform event.

Be sure and plan on supporting our “Let’s Eat Out” fundraiser at Old Spaghetti Factory in Rancho Mirage tomorrow from 4 pm - 9 pm, 15% of your check benefits the Parent Association. Dine-in only, please present this flyer.

Next week, December 17th - 21st, is Spirit Week. Students are welcome to participate, but please remember that these are not free dress days. If students choose not to participate, they must wear the regular uniform. For safety reasons, we require students to wear athletic shoes to school each day.
Monday: Tourist Day
Tuesday: Sports Day
Wednesday: Ugly Sweater Day
Buddy groups will meet in the gym at 8:20 am and have a parade to show off their unusual holiday sweaters. This will be followed by the Parent Association serving hot chocolate outside the snack shop. Parents and families are invited to join us! Students must wear regular uniform bottoms, socks, and athletic shoes.
Thursday: Decades Day
Friday: Pajama Day
Friday, December 21st students are dismissed at noon. There is no lunch or After-Care.

Kindly,

Mrs. Fisher
