Weekly Notes from the Head of Lower School, 1/29

“It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.” Albert Einstein

The word of the month for February is perseverance. Teachers will be focusing on this the entire month in their Morning Meetings and at other times throughout the day. Having the determination to work hard regardless of obstacles and not giving up will serve students well throughout their life. There are some terrific children’s books that can illustrate this characteristic: The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires, Flight School by Lita Judge, Luigi, and the Barefoot Races by Dan Paley, A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams. Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman, Brave Irene by William Steig, and of course, the fable, The Little Engine that Could.

Students enjoyed participating in Move-Up Day last Friday. If you have any questions about the curriculum or would like to meet to discuss our great academic program, please let me know!
