End-of-the-year Information from Head of Lower School, 6/3

Dear Families,

Happy first week of summer! I’m reaching out with some end-of-the-year information for you. Our offices will move to summer hours, which are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, beginning Monday, June 8th. Please reach out via phone or email if I can assist you in any way.

We will be sending summer assignments and Fourth Quarter Narrative reports in lieu of report cards on Tuesday, June 9th. Look for another mailing in August with a list of needed supplies, class information, and enrollment forms.

We have heard from the yearbook publisher. Unfortunately, the yearbook production was delayed due to the COVID-19 closure. We anticipate delivery in 4 to 5 weeks. I will email families when they arrive.

The administrative team is working on plans for the August 26th start of school. As you know, plans are contingent on enrollment. To that end, Dr. Sherman and the Board of Trustees have extended the rescission date for contracts to June 15th. They have also added two addendums to the enrollment contract. These were outlined in an email last week, and were put in place to provide an additional measure of assurance to our families as you plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Please know that you can email me, ffisher@pvs.org or Abby Sturgeon, asturgeon@pvs.org at any time to have any further questions answered.

Here is a link to a list of things to do over the summer: click. Of special note are Camp Innovation and Apple Magic.

I hope everyone got a chance to view the Lower School Department Awards announcement: click and 5th Grade Virtual Promotion Ceremony: click. These winners, our promoting students, and all of our students are to be congratulated on a very successful school year.

When I look back on this unprecedented time, I will remember their patience, flexibility, tenacity, and Firebird Spirit. Thank you all for supporting the students and faculty. We are indeed an exceptional learning community! I will see you in August.
