Though you couldn’t tell by the weather, we are officially into Fall. Besides pumpkin spiced lattes, thoughts of Halloween, and Thanksgiving, it means Student-Led Conferences! This year’s conferences are Friday, October 9th. This type of conferencing allows students to reflect on their learning and set goals. When students take responsibility for their learning and behavior and evaluate their progress, they build confidence and commit more to their school work. Teachers will be sending a sign-up form for you to make an in-person appointment to meet. This student-led conference is not a time to discuss grades with the teacher. If you would like to do so, please contact the teacher to set up additional time. There is no school on this day, and no AfterCare or Mini-Camps available.
Friday, October 16th, is a Professional Development Day. Mini-Camp is available. Due to health and safety protocols, you must sign up for this in advance. Space is limited. You can click here to do so: here.
Box Tops and Amazon Smiles
Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy to use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible when the receipt is scanned. The app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. You can still earn box tops for purchased goods when online shopping by submitting your emailed receipt(s) from specific retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, email@example.com.
Similar to Box Tops, Amazon Smile is a program that can help support PVS. With families purchasing from Amazon, especially during the pandemic, remembering to conduct their purchases through smile.amazon.com and indicating PVS, a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school. These are small ways to help earn money for our learning community, and every dollar for PVS counts!
Other informational items:
- The date for school pictures has not been set.
- Halloween - We will be allowing students to dress up for Halloween. Because of safety protocols, we will not have our traditional costume parade. Teachers may have small classroom celebrations. They will send details in their classroom information. (We will be adhering to our safety protocols - no outside volunteers or food.)
- We ask that you inform the office and teachers in advance if you will be picking up your child early from school. This will help ensure students are packed and ready to go. It is especially important when you arrive close to the end of the school day. Understandably, this is not always possible. Know that teachers may not be able to stop their instruction and get students packed for the day without advance notice, and students will get missing or make-up information when they return the next day.
- If someone other than a parent or guardian is picking your child up from school, please email or call the office. Even if the person picking your child up is listed on the contact sheet, we must know in advance. Without notice, we will bring your child to the office and call you to confirm.
Happy Fall, everyone!
