We made it through the first few days of school. On behalf of the faculty and staff, thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through technical difficulties. Your support is appreciated. If you have any issues, please reach out to your student’s teacher. If they can’t help, you can email Mr. Kisling: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that there may be a slight delay connecting in the morning. This is because there are so many accessing Google at the same time. I encourage students to log in a few minutes early to ensure they can connect.
As you know, we were granted a waiver from our County and will return to in-person instruction beginning on Tuesday, September 8th. The re-opening of our Lower School requires strict adherence to our re-opening plan by all members of our school community. Please take a moment to review the protocols and changes to the Lower School, as outlined in the Lower School Handbook. These include staggered start and dismissal times, early dismissal on Fridays, and more. The health and welfare of the faculty, staff, students, and families have been taken into consideration in the development of these changes. If you have any questions, please contact me. We are sending information and sign-ups for HyFlex Learning next week. This option is available for families in Second through Fifth-grade.
I would like to emphasize the importance of addressing students’ social/emotional needs and creating and building a strong classroom culture. For learning to occur, students must feel safe and comfortable so that they are not afraid to try, make mistakes, or voice an opinion that may not be that of the majority. Since students have been away from peers and learning online for several months, it is more important than ever. Teachers will be spending more time than usual leading team building and other activities and easing into academics.
You may have noticed that you don’t need to clip box tops anymore! Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy to use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don’t need to know what products are eligible when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. You can still earn box tops for purchased goods when online shopping by submitting your emailed receipt(s) from specific retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, email@example.com.
If you shop on Amazon, you can support Palm Valley via the Amazon Smile program. Got to smile.amazon.com and choose Palm Valley School. A small percent of your purchases will benefit our school. Thanks for considering these two programs- every little bit helps.
