Dear Lower School Families,

We are in the homestretch of the school year, and what a fantastic year it has been! I am proud that we were one of the first schools to welcome students back into their physical classrooms. For me, opening the school and establishing health and safety protocols was daunting. As a team, we “mounted the highwire” and took the first step. We learned to teach and learn while wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing- everything! Most of all, our community has been flexible and positive. Thanks to the families and Parent Association for being a part of this very special community. 

Looking for something to do this summer? There are several opportunities happening on our campus, including two new ones that are in the final planning stages:

Kiddos Lingua: June 7th - 11th
                          June 14th - 18th- This week was just added!
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
It is open to kids of all Spanish levels- beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Campers will be immersed in Spanish through games, songs, outdoor play, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and performances. The cost is $320 for the week. Arts and TechnologyJune 21st - 25th - for 3rd - 5th graders 
Hours: 8:00 am - 12:30 pm
Presented by Mr. Kisling and Ms. Rivera. Students will explore different art mediums and collaborate to produce a small outdoor mural on campus! After a snack break, they will work with VEX IQ robotics kits to construct and code their own robot. They’ll also design a 3D model in Minecraft to print on our 3D printer. (A minimum of 10 students are required.)

STEM Magic Camp: June 29th - July 1st- for ages 8 to 12 *This is a three-day camp.
Hours: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Students will experience some hands-on interactive magic and learn how it all works. The camp will culminate in a magic show presented by the students! The camp is presented by the renowned magician Dean Apple and his assistant who is an educator specializing in STEM education.  https://vimeo.com/411209562  *** Registration information coming soon! Camp InventionJuly 26th - July 30th- for K - 6th graders
Hours: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
This nationally recognized camp has been bringing hands-on STEM activities to students for over 30 years. A FEW of the activities are experiments with trajectory and velocity, engineering a launch device, reverse engineer a wireless microphone to amplify their voice, vehicle design, and creation of a solar-powered robot! Kids’ Summer Sports CampThis is held at Mission Hills Country Club.  Hours: 8:00 am - 3:15 pm. Sessions are throughout the summer, ending on August 13th. Sign up by the week, or just for the day. Contact Patrick.Guion@clubcorp.com 760.328.5800.
I hope to see everyone at Flapjacks for Families tomorrow, Monday, May 17th, from 7:30 am- 9:15 am. Come up to the MS building and get a plate of pancakes made by the school administration team! We will also be providing fresh fruit from CV Harvest along with coffee (adults only, please) and juice! Students must be accompanied by an adult.Yearbooks! The yearbook is still available for purchase! The website link is no longer active but it can be purchased in the Lower School office. The cost is $70. We have a limited number of yearbooks available this year and we have already sold 70% of them. Get yours today!

Our last day of school is Thursday, June 3rd. This is a minimum day- K - 2nd grade is dismissed at 11:15, and 3rd - 5th grade at 11:30. (There is no AfterCare.) We are having the 5th Grade promotion ceremony in the gym at 3:00 pm that day.
