Without mistakes, how would we know what we had to work on?
~ Peter McWilliams
Classes will have small celebrations for Valentine’s Day on February 12th. Your student can bring cards for their classmates, as long as there is one for everyone in the class. We cannot permit toys or candy. We want our students to focus on the caring aspect of the holiday. (Should any of the above items be brought to class, the teacher will send them home with your child.) Teachers will be giving more details in their weekly newsletter. The Parent Association will have a “No-Bake Bake Sale” for students during their lunchtime this day. There will be pre-packaged treats for sale, $1.00 and $2.00. (We limit purchases to one item per child.)
Our Spirit Store will now be open every Wednesday from 7:30 - 8:30 am. If this is not convenient, you can email them: spiritstore@pvs.org.
February is the month for Valentines and… Girl Scout Cookies! Sadly, there are no direct sales, but that is not stopping our very own troop 112. You can order using this link: COOKIES!! They can be shipped, or you can choose to pick them up from the scouts after school.
The February Break is coming up, and school will be closed from February 15th - 19th. Why not go to the Living Desert on Thursday, February 18th, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm? They are offering a special Family Field Trip! They are opening the facility to PVS families for a special price- $8.00 per child and $12.00 (total) for up to two adults. What a great way to see the new exhibits and have some family time. Click here to RSVP.
This year, The Scholastic Bookfair will be a virtual event held between March 9th and March 22nd. Be on the lookout for information!
Camp Invention is open for registration for July 26th – 30th! Parents can go to the website: www.campinvention.org. Click the “Find My Camp” button and enter your zip code. The planned program is amazing. You can save $40 by registering before March 31st!
Box Tops for Education is now online and digital, with an easy to use app. Families can download the Box Tops app and scan their receipt(s) within 14 days of purchase to earn cash (typically 10 cents per Box Top item, although additional incentives are offered). Users don't need to know what products are eligible, when the receipt is scanned, the app will show the box tops earned at that time and credit PVS. When online shopping for groceries, you can still earn box tops for purchased goods by submitting your emailed receipt from certain retailers. If you have questions, our PVS Box Tops for Education Coordinator is Sarah Dunn, dienys@hotmail.com.
Amazon Smile is another program that can help support PVS. When families purchase from Amazon, visiting smile.amazon.com first and indicating PVS as their donation site of choice will bring monies into our school (plus it will now remember PVS for each purchase once you have indicated it the first time), a small percent (0.5%) of that purchase will benefit our school.
