Eblast from the Head of Lower School, 12/13

“Each day comes bearing its own gifts- untie the ribbons.”
Ruth Ann Schabacker
Dear Families,

2020 is quickly drawing to a close. Despite the masks, hand sanitizer, hand washing, temperature checks, and social distancing, our students arrive ready for another great day. We are part of a fantastic community. It is heartwarming to see our students thrive; they truly have the joy of learning.

This is the last week before Winter Break. Students are dismissed early on Friday, December 18th. Kindergarten, First, and Second Graders’ day ends at noon; Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders end at 12:20. There is no AfterCare.

Next week is Spirit Week. We encourage students and faculty to participate and show school spirit by dressing accordingly. (This is optional. If students do not want to participate, please wear a regular school uniform.) Students must wear appropriate athletic shoes for safety during P.E. and recess. Those that are HyFlex or Distance Learning are encouraged to participate too!

Monday- Plaid Day
Tuesday- Sports Day
Wednesday- Ugly Sweater Day
Thursday- Inside Out Day
Friday- Pajama Day
Thank you for your generous donations of new stuffed animals and books for children in the Riverside County Foster Care program. A representative will be picking these up tomorrow, December 14th. You may drop off last-minute donations in front of the Lower School in the morning.

Students made cards and letters for clients of the Mizell Senior Center. I will be bringing them to the center on Tuesday, and they’ll be included with the Meals on Wheels deliveries. Reading some of the letters made me smile, and I am so proud of the students. Some wrote jokes and riddles, others drew pictures, and some wrote about their favorite subject in school.

Yearbooks are on sale! Please order them directly from the website using this link:  https://www.balfour.com/student-info?smi=4409 The early bird price is $55 until January 4th, and the price goes up incrementally. If you would like to purchase an ad, please email ahall@student.pvs.org or shabibipour@student.pvs.org for more information.
I humbly ask you to consider donating to the Annual Fund. This year, we have a generous donor who has pledged matching funds! That means, every dollar means TWO for our school. This is a difficult time financially for everyone, and every dollar you give makes a difference. Annual Gift

This is my last eblast of 2020! I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays and a restful break, and I look forward to 2021! It’s my wish that you and your family take time during the break to discover and “untie the ribbons” on the gifts each day brings.

Cordially,
