The word of the month for November is gratitude. Teachers are focusing on this topic during their morning meetings, and throughout the day, finding opportunities to help students develop an appreciation for what they have; recognizing what others do for them, and being grateful.
One of the things for which we are grateful, is our Veterans. Palm Valley School has celebrated Veterans’ Day with a schoolwide performance, which honors veterans in our Palm Valley and outside communities. Though we may not be able to do so this year, our Kindergarten through Second Grade students will still be honoring Veterans with a video performance. We will be sending and posting a link to the video on November 11th, and I encourage you to pass it on to family and friends. Special thanks to Mr. Paul Kay for facilitating this endeavor.
Fourth grader Addison Uhlhorn has found a way to give back to the community. She makes various items such as masks, jewelry, keychains, and hair accessories that have gemstones sewn into them. Addison has made some items in PVS colors. She is donating proceeds from the sales from now until November 20th to Animal Samaritans. You can see them for yourself at www.etsy.com/shop/
Accidents happen! We have a limited supply of masks to give to students when needed. Please pack an extra mask for your child for those times- thank you.
For those students who missed picture day, there will be a make-up day tomorrow, Monday, November 9th. Please make sure your student wears their dress uniform to school.
As the weather gets cooler, please remember that leggings may be worn. Leggings and socks should be in a solid color, free from embellishments or logos in white, black, brown, tan, gray, or red, only. Shoes should be practical for P.E. and recess and be as close to a single color as possible, unobtrusive in appearance, and without excessive embellishments.
We take the safety and security of students very seriously. Next week, we will have our first fire drill. Teachers also practice earthquake drills after they return from the fire drill evacuation.
Please be mindful of your driving speed while on campus. When picking up your child from school, use the crosswalk at all times, and do not drive around the car in front of you in order to get to the front of the line.
Thanks to all of you for supporting the school and attending the Family Drive-In Movie Night on Saturday. It was a wonderful evening and a great way to bring the PVS community together. Thank you to the Parent Association for organizing this fun event.
