Eblast from the Head of Lower School, 1/10

"You’ll never get bored when you try something new.
There’s really no limit to what you can do."

Dr. Seuss
Dear Families,
The New Year is the perfect occasion to appreciate all the good things that the past year has given us and all the good things that are yet to come. We have learned new ways of meeting, communicating, teaching, and learning. Our vernacular now includes terms such as social distancing, Zooming, safety protocols, and quarantine. Personally, I have gained a greater appreciation of family, and the little things in life that are often taken for granted. I genuinely appreciate my Palm Valley School community. As Dr. Seuss says, there’s no limit to what we can do in 2021!

We ended the year by giving back to the greater community, and we will continue to do so in the coming weeks. Thanks to your generosity, we collected so many stuffed animals and books for the Riverside County Foster Care program that the representative could hardly see out her back window! Our students made holiday cards for the Meals on Wheels program clients, who were very appreciative. This week, our kindergarten, first, and second graders made thank you cards for the ICU nurses at Desert Regional Hospital. Next week, our third, fourth, and fifth graders will do the same for the ICU nurses at Eisenhower Hospital.

Our students’, faculty’s, and staff’s health and safety are always at the forefront of our priorities. We planned a gradual return to campus; kindergarten through second grade returned this week, third-fifth grades next week, and sixth through twelfth the following week. I look forward to welcoming our third through fifth graders back on campus Monday- it has been w-a-a-y too quiet without them!

As a further safety measure, we will no longer be allowing invitations for parties to be handed out at school. You can access the school directory to obtain emails and addresses of families who have allowed us to publish this information. Go to our website, HERE (www.pvs.org). Click on the MyBackpack option at the top of the page. At the next prompt, type in the username: parentdirectory The password is: PVSfamilies1920

On Monday, January 11th, Miss Savannah Sanchez, second-grader, will be the Head of School for the day! Both Dr. Sherman and I are excited to work with her!

Annual Fund
I humbly ask you to consider donating to our Annual Fund. This year, we have a generous donor who has pledged matching funds. This matching funds grant ends on January 15th! That means every dollar means TWO for our school. The success of our Annual Fund is more important this year than ever. Any amount you give makes a difference. Thank you to all who have donated.
