Monday Notes from the Head of School, 9/9

"Be willing to be a beginner every single morning." Meister Eckhart

Dear Palm Valley Families,

Welcome back! As this is our first true Monday of the school year, I am so thrilled to be writing to you via my Monday Notes e-blast. In addition to hearing from your Division Heads on Wednesday, I will be sending you a communication each Monday. Additionally, our Administrative team work together to create a Monthly Newsletter that comes home in print, called The Phoenix. Our Phoenix editor, Andrea Turner, has already sent you the initial copy for September. I hope that these and other methods of communicating important information to your homes is effective. As always, please let us know if you have questions or concerns by calling or emailing directly. We value your input and aim to communicate with families about all the important events, celebrations, and plans for the year!

We are so thrilled to welcome 55 new students this year to Palm Valley School! There will be a special coffee session held for any and all new families to come and ask questions, discuss processes and events, and to learn more about our school. This coffee will be held in the MPR of the Middle School Building on Monday, September 23 at 8:15 am right after drop off. Many of our Administrators will be present to answer questions and get to know you better! Coffee and snacks provided. Please join us. Additionally, our new Admissions Director, Abby Sturgeon, is looking for some of our wonderful returning families to serve as host families for our new families. If you are interested and able to serve as a host family, please reach out to her directly at to offer. We need families with children in all grade levels who have been at Palm Valley School longer than one year. Please consider helping us out in this way!

Our year is off to a great start! We have had our Senior Sunrise, Senior Tie ceremony, begun our work on the Buddy program, and more. The 2019-2020 school year has already had an incredible beginning and we look forward to partnering with all our families to make it an amazing year. Please consider volunteering in your child's classroom(s), or to assist with our Parent Association this year. Being involved in our campus activities is a great way to support the efforts of the school and your student(s). All parents and families are members of the Parent Association by virtue of having a child enrolled here. In addition to parents, we have grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even older siblings who volunteer and participate, so please consider attending a meeting or volunteering your time.

Thanks for all you do to support your child, we are so grateful that you are here at Palm Valley School!
