Monday Notes from the Head of School, 12/11

"Merry everything and a happy always!" -Anonymous

Dear Palm Valley Families,

Just when I think it can't get any more "busy" around here, I am proven wrong! With our Winter Athletic Season underway and the uber-talented efforts of our US Thespians finishing weekend number two of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," I am once again in awe of all that our ambitious and hard-working students do to make it all come together. I am particularly proud of our WorldQuest team who recently placed Third in their competition, the highest placement Palm Valley School has ever had! Way to go Firebirds! Our students could not do everything they do, however, without the support of the adults in their life. From teachers who volunteer to take on supervisory roles in extra activities, to parents and family members who drive the carpool and cheer from the sidelines, I want to thank all the adult members of our community for everything they constantly strive to do for our students each and every day!

With only TWO WEEKS left of classes before the big winter break, there are a lot more activities and reminders that need to go out! The first of which is that tickets are still on sale here for our Casino Royale Annual Gala. If you purchase before the Friday, December 22 deadline, you can get them for the Early Bird pricing of $150/person (or an Early Bird table for 10 at $1,500), so don't delay - get those tickets now! We are also offering upgraded tables with extra goodies for a special enjoyable evening so get yours before it's too late.

We are also still in need of items for the live and online auctions and are offering TWO FREE TICKETS to be awarded in a drawing for anyone who donates or brings in donation items for the event. From Hair Salons to Oil Changes for your car to Photography and Travel - any service, good, or discount can be given to the event. Remember, this is to raise money for our students and for programs that we ordinarily would not be able to offer, so please consider donating, buying a ticket, or bidding on the auction when it opens! For more information, contact Courtney Fisher at today!

Our Shoe Drive officially kicked off today! We are collecting new, unisex-colored shoes in kids sizes for a local elementary school in Desert Hot Springs. Many children in the valley come to school in torn, old shoes with holes that do not allow them to run, play and enjoy school the way they should be able to! Your gift of a new pair of shoes means so much in the daily life of a child in need. Please bring your donations to any front desk on campus. There are donation boxes in each division. The deadline to donate is Thursday at 9:00 am. We will be delivering these shoes to the school on Thursday afternoon. Your gift of new shoes will brighten the lives of others this holiday season!

Lastly, if you need Child Care for your student in Preschool through Grade 5, consider signing up for one of our Mini Camps over the break! Kids will engage in holiday crafts and projects galore. Our Mini Camps take place December 27-29 and January 3-5. Sign up for the full session or one day at a time. This event is also open to the public, so invite your friends, cousins, and neighbors to join us! A great opportunity for working families or if you just have some errands to run and need to be kid-free! Sign up here or let us know if you have any questions.

As we slide into the Winter Break, I will be enjoying all the activities and celebrations of these last two weeks of school!
