Monday Notes from the Head of School, 11/26

"Be happy for what you have while working for what you want." - Helen Keller

Dear Palm Valley Families,

Welcome back! It's amazing how a week off can really make Monday feel so alive! This past weekend was a time for thankfulness. I hope that you were all able to spend quality time with friends and family and had a rich and relaxing holiday full of togetherness. I had a great weekend with my family, but am so happy to be back today! I am so thankful for our students and families, faculty, and community. We have so much to be thankful for at Palm Valley School, and each of you is a part of that. Thank you for all you do!

If you have not yet given to our #FeedTheFire Annual Fund this year, then I invite you to join us in doing so tomorrow, Tuesday, November 27th for the Global Day of Giving, #GivingTuesday. If you give your Annual Fund gift on #GivingTuesday this year, you will receive a special thanks from our students and staff in a social media shout-out! Our goal for our #FeedtheFire Annual Fund drive this year is to reach 100% participation in all constituencies of our community. We have garnered that 100% from our Faculty, Staff, and our Board of Trustees. We need your help to reach our goal - can we count on you this year? #GivingTuesday is a great way to join the global movement of giving and support non-profit organizations around the world - your gifts to Palm Valley School support our students and programs! If you give your gift through Facebook, you could qualify for a matching donation. Facebook and PayPal have partnered up to match up to $7 million in #GivingTuesday gifts on Facebook. Tomorrow, give your gift online, on Facebook, or in person!

The Annual Fund makes up 6% of our operating budget and helps to support everything from our Arts and Athletics programs to Financial Aid, Faculty Professional Development, and more. #FeedTheFire that burns in our community and our students. This fire is what drives and shapes their hopes and dreams. It’s what spurs them on to try something new or to work harder to achieve their goals through consistency and perseverance. In our Faculty and Staff, it's what drives them to go that extra mile for our students every day. Whether it's learning about a new curriculum or program, sponsoring an after-school activity, or giving up their evenings and weekends to help students reach their goals - it's that fire that our Annual Fund helps to feed. Thank you for considering and for your support. Whether you can give a little or a lot, we need your help to reach our goal!

I am so grateful for each of you that have already given to our Annual Fund. We are so thankful for your support and encouragement. Our school community is about families and working together to help students reach their goals and be their best selves. Thank you for all you do to support your students, our faculty, school, and community. You are part of what makes Palm Valley School such a special place and we are so thankful!

With gratitude,

Susan Rice
