Monday Notes from the Head of School, 1/7

"Set your goals high, and don't stop until you get there." - Bo Jackson

Dear Palm Valley Families,

Welcome back! I hope that this recent break has allowed you all some special time with families and friends to celebrate, refresh, and get excited about the new year! Our Students, Staff, and Faculty at Palm Valley have set many goals we are hoping to achieve in 2019. Our seniors are nearing the end of the college process, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing them reach their goals of college acceptances and scholarship awards. It is every bit as satisfying seeing our youngest learners in the Lower School reaching their goal of reading independently for the first time. At every level of our school community, we are working hard to accomplish and surpass goals we set.

We look forward to continuing the strong partnership we have with all of our families to reach these goals. We can see the finish line, and I know that whatever we set out to do - success is on the horizon!

Speaking of goals, I invite all of you to join me for our annual "Breakfast with the Head of School" tomorrow, at 8:15 am in the MPR during our regular Parent Association meeting. This annual event gives me an opportunity to speak to all families in attendance about the vision and goals for our school. I will be updating you on our progress with our last Accreditation and the close of our Strategic Plan (Vision 2020). There are many exciting things happening and plans for more to come in the future at Palm Valley School. Curriculum mapping, safety issues, diversity initiatives, enrollment, fundraising, and more. Please consider joining us!

We have had an incredible start on our 2019 Annual Fund goals of $300,000+ and 100% family participation. Thank you to those of you who have contributed already. We want to meet the mark of joining so many of our peer schools in CAIS and around the country who reach 100% participation from families. Our Faculty and Staff, as well as our Board of Trustees, have already contributed and reached 100%. I know that this is our year to make this goal a reality. We will be starting a class competition that will run for the month of January. Any grade level that reaches 100% participation in the Annual Fund will be invited to a Family Ice Cream Social on February 1st. Several grade levels are already very close. Our current top three grades are our Toddlers with 67%, 10th Grade with 58%, and Kindergarten with 54%. The first three classes to reach 100% get to choose flavors and toppings! Whether you can contribute $50 or $50,000 - every gift counts and helps to support the programs and community in ways that tuition doesn't cover. Please consider joining us with a contribution today. You can go online here to give or stop by the business office!

Thank you for being here and for all you do. My wish for you is that 2019 is your best year yet!
